• You are expected to tip waitrons 10-15% of your bill
• Waitrons do not wait until everyone has finished eating before clearing plates, they whip each one away as the diner takes his last bite

• You can draw money from bank cash machine with overseas bank and credit cards, so don't forget your code

• South African drivers are notoriously bad, especially the public taxi-bus drivers, so take good care
• Drinking and Driving is illegal but many people do it anyway

• Non residents can claim back VAT when leaving the country. Keep all receipts and be prepared to show some items at the airport before check-in
Cape Town Information: Southern Hemisphere Oddities
• If you are from the northern hemisphere, your sense of direction will probably be 180 degrees out (as the sun arcs in the opposite way and confuses your instinct)
• If buying a property you want it to face north to catch the sun
