African Restaurants in Cape Town - South Africa

A typical African dish found accross Southern and East Africa, consists predominantly of a high carbohydrate staple, which in Cape Town is called 'pap'.  This is maize meal, cooked into a stiff porridge and served with tomato and onion relish or wild spinach, and perhaps a meat stew or tripe.  Don't expect too much of this kind of food in Cape Town's lively African restaurants, as they usually offer a much more tempting selection of dishes from around the African continent.
