Originally a fishing village, today's Hermanus has a wide variety of attractions for the holidaymaker. Regarded by many as the best land-based whale watching destination in the world. From relaxing on pristine beaches, a sun worshipper's dream with their soft powdery white sands, to exploring the beautiful mountainside, there is no shortage of activities to keep the visitor busy. Fernkloof nature reserve boasts unrivalled birds-eye views of Walker Bay for those willing to put a little effort into their walking. For the less fit, there is the relatively flat cliff paths that trace the coastline of Hermanus from one end to the other.
