Backpackers in Cape Town are particularly well catered for in and you can choose one in a quiet but central suburban street or downtown in the thick of things. Beachfront accommodation is scarce, so most of the Cape Town backpacker lodges are a little way from the beach. Many have swimming pools and activities rooms and all offer information, tours and the opportunity for adventure. They provide dormitories, and often have a few double rooms for those wanting a bit more privacy at an additional cost.
