HI .
What a surprise! my last visit to Capetown was in 1960.Aboard the RMS>Windsor Castle. for many years I was a regular visitor. I worked for the Union Casle line. I have many fond and happy memories of Capetown and its people. Ive wanted to return for many years...but.... 3weeks ago my children bought me this magic box. Tonight I found myself viewing your webbsite. pictures .I wonder how many people remember a character of the docklands who was world renown to seafarers,He was a small coloured gentleman who went by the name of "Snowball" on account of his shocking white hair.He was always at the union castle berths for arrivals and departures.And was well respected. The story was he was born in the West Indies and had stowed away on a ship which put himashore in Capetown circa 1930/40 . I will return to this webbsite,again ,just to view the pictures. cheerio |
