The Baxter Theatre Centre with its distinctively 70's architecture and glowing orange domes is a vibrant cultural hub pulsating with the finest in South African theatre. It provides an exciting forum for the celebration of life – the essence of live theatre, music and dance. At the forefront of performing arts both as a popular venue and as a leading award-winning producer, the Baxter presents cutting edge works and masterpieces from local and international repertoires. Top directors work with a host of well-known and respected theatre, television and film actors to ensure a diverse and stimulating programme throughout the year. The seating capacity for the Main Theatre is 665 people, the Concert Hall 638 and the studio 174 people. The in-house Baxter Restaurant is able to meet all catering requirements and is ideal for pre-show dinner options supported by a fully licensed bar. The Main Foyer, Restaurant, Bar and Studio and other spaces are inter-connected at different levels and can be used together or separately.
