Accommodation is luxurious and generously appointed, and comprises sixteen beautifully styled rooms and suites.
Fresh from a series of enhancements, Bushmans Kloof is set to fulfil its ongoing commitment to conserving, protecting and enriching the land, environment, wildlife and flora, as well as the heritage of the San Bushmen, thus providing a deeper meaning to the glamorous 5-star treatment.
With no large predators, Bushmans Kloof is a safe haven to many unique and some highly endangered species of animals, and over 755 indigenous plants species thrive within this protected wilderness. There are over 35 species of mammals including Eland and Bontebok, as well as 29 Cape mountain zebra, currently numbered at only 1200 worldwide. More than 150 kinds of birds have been recorded in the reserve, including African fish eagle, Malachite kingfisher and Black harrier, and many species of water birds and indigenous ducks, such as Cape teal and Cape shovler.
The San, South Africa's earliest inhabitants, roamed this region during the Later Stone Age and today are recognised as one of the oldest civilisations of mankind. At Bushmans Kloof more than 130 San Bushmen rock art sites are located amidst overhanging cliffs and rocky shelters. The Heritage Centre provides further insight into the history and lives of the San people through photographic images and Bushman artefacts and guests may also explore the medicinal herb garden to learn about the fascinating plants and remedies used by the San throughout the ages.
Join in and learn more about the rich cultural history of this ancient land with daily guided rock art walks. Other outdoor activities in the reserve include early morning or evening game drives with delicious refreshments, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, archery, fishing and swimming in crystal clear rock pools. Exercise in the new Fitness Centre and then cool off in any of the four refreshing pools on the property, or rejuvenate mind, body and soul with a choice of soothing spa treatments.
The chef adds a magical touch to the cuisine, creating healthy and nutritious meals using ingredients from Bushmans Kloof's own organic fruit, vegetable and herb gardens. Ranging from home-style Comfort Food to Gastronomic, meals are served in several stunning venues, from the Homestead Dining Room to Makana (the San word for ‘to feast') or starlit Embers.
