Description
The 5 star graded Steenberg Hotel & Winery is situated on the Cape's oldest wine farm, a mere twenty-minute drive from the bustling heart of Cape Town. The hotel nestles in the tranquil Constantia Valley, against the slopes of the Steenberg Mountain, offering sweeping views over False Bay. The hotel buildings, dating back to 1682, were painstakingly restored and have been declared a National Monument. Here the legendary elegance and traditions of the 17th century blend harmoniously with the most refined luxuries and conveniences of our modern age. The estate boasts it's own world renowned, working winery, which produces a selection of award winning fine wines. Guided tours, lunches on the terrace and wine tasting are available on request. For the keen golfer, an 18 hole, championship golf course also forms part of this prestigious estate. The original winery provides the setting for the Restaurant at Steenberg. European style décor incorporates all the historical architectural features of the old winery. Gourmet cuisine features traditional Cape and continental dishes. Well-marked walks in the area take the rambler through spectacular forests, over ravines and through beautiful botanical gardens. False Bay and Chapman's Peak are a few minutes dive away and offer scenic panoramic views. A drive to Cape Point Nature Reserve and Hout Bay also offer diverse and splendid scenery. This boutique hotel is a haven of serenity with a choice of 30 elegant, air-conditioned rooms located in the original Manor House, Jonker's Huis, Barn, Swaaneweide and Spurwing Houses. Each en-suite room is tastefully furnished with exquisite antiques and all rooms overlook the vineyards, golf course or manicured gardens. Amenities on offer to our patrons include an on-site hairstylist and beauty consultant and a gymnasium. Guests can shed their cares and surrender themselves to the quality of personal service, unique to a small luxury hotel. Steenberg is an ideal starting point for day excursions to some of the Cape's other attractions.
