Tropic Trader is the South African agent for The House of Tropicdane, a Danish design and production house based in Vietnam. The company boasts a commitment to the art of presenting elegantly designed leisure products and concepts befitting today's modern lifestyle. Our extensive range is constantly being added to by some of the world's most renowned designers who bring to the table the most sophisticated trends from around the globe.
Only plantation-grown tropical hardwoods are used by our craftsmen in the furniture production. Our extensive range caters for both ends of the market from budget buys to the more sophisticated appetite - a piece for every taste.
The same can be said of our ceramics and terracotta into which only the finest natural clay is used in production.
Built with a patented composite sandwich construction, each tabletop is pre-treated with Protect Nature making it sun, water, stain and frost resistant.
Powder coated metal is used in the construction of the tiled tabletop stands and mosaic chairs and stainless steel fittings in all wooden furniture to ensure no rust and corrosion takes hold. Each piece is carefully produced by expert artisans and tested to give years of service and enjoyment.
Our tabletop designs reflect the colours and shapes of nature interpreted in fire burned clay, terrazzo and glazed mosaic tiles. Designers have created intriguing pieces with colours ranging from the sublime to the dazzling and patterns representing nature's spectacles of mountains, valleys and plains, starbursts and flowing water.
Our pieces are a study in contrasts: smooth elegant lines which are modern and artistically interesting yet durable and comfortable.
Tropic Trader opened the doors to our first shop in May 2004. Situated at No 44 Main Road, Bergvliet, Cape Town we boast occupation of arguably the oldest building on the main road easily recognisable by the landmark thatch boma on the pavement. Our second shop opened in August 2005 at 193 Buitenkant Street, Gardens, Cape Town.
Our products are available to both the retail and wholesale market and we currently supply many of the retail shops and chain stores in South Africa.
