Description
In South Africa, we have the privilege of access to Great White Sharks … if you know when and where to go.
And now the general public, too, can enjoy first-hand experience of the Great White Shark. Observing and diving with Great White Sharks under the correct conditions and guidance is a wonderful experience. Even ‘anti-shark' people return from an expedition or diving trip with love, and certainly respect, for this creature.
White Shark Projects is without doubt the most successful White Shark Dive Organisation in the world: Working in the unique marine area off the Southern Cape coast, our skippers log more contact with Great White Sharks than anyone else worldwide.
This is our day …
- Pickup and scenic transferWe can collect you from Cape Town or Hermanus and drive you to ‘White Shark Lodge', our home base in Kleinbaai. Alternatively we can arrange for car hire, helicopter or micro light transfer.
- Breakfast at our stunning Lodge
Our continental breakfast consists of yoghurt, cereals, toast and cold meats, tea and coffee.
- Day at sea and a lecture on board
The skipper of the day gives a short lecture on shark anatomy and behaviour. He explains how we work with the sharks in the area.
We spend 4 to 6 hours at sea, depending on the frequency of shark visits to the boat.
- Diving and viewingOur cage takes 4 people at a time. Each person spends approximately 20 minutes in the cage. All scuba equipment, including 7mm wetsuits, is provided – you don't need a scuba licence to cage dive.
- Lunch on boardOur lunch boxes are packed with bread rolls (with a variety of fillings), sweets, crisps and assorted juices and soft drinks.
- Afternoon teaUpon our return to the harbour, you are invited to tea, coffee, biscuits or scones at our Lodge.
