Music is the most powerful medium at our disposal .ALL people regardless of age, colour, creed or gender ,have at one stage or another been touched by this force. At Zula we bring the finest aspects of this medium mix it up with live theatre and dance and add a sprinkling of poetry to bring to Cape Town an ever-changing art house.
As a live music venue we have hosted some of Cape Town's finest musicians including ,Freshly Ground, Godessa ,bed on bricks, Teba and the sons of sellassie ,to name a few. We have also hosted international djs including Pascal (true playaz) and British hip hop sensations Ty and dj Biznizz and we fully intend to continue delivering the finest entertainment that Cape Town deserves. At Zula our music policy is one which sees the bands taking 100% of the door money which means unlimited earning potential for these musicians who pour their hearts into their music. So please remember musicians are humans too and deserve to be paid as such.
We intend to continue repaying our customers by delivering music of the highest quality and an atmosphere to match.That equation even extends to djs of whom we have some of the mother city's finest including Fletcher (African dope), Manello,Dubmasta China(nuff respect) and Honey B (African dope), so after the bands quality music is still absolutely guaranteed.
As well as live music we also offer theatrical performance such as belly dancing, poetry, dance and comedy.
Games are catered for by a pool table and two fusbol tables, so you can score while listening to tunes.How cool is that?
The impeccable service is bolstered by an excellent European meets Cape Town menu for the discerning palate .An absolutely fantastic selection of tapas ,pasta, beautiful vegetarian cuisine,and for the carnivores a good selection of hot and cold meats ,a fine selection of wines delivered from in and around the western cape, all delivered by staff so friendly you will honestly want to take them home, all served from a fully licensed magic tree bar.
Catch the best views of Long St from the original Victorian balcony, and enjoy sundowners on Tuesday while enjoying acoustic music from cape town's finest; or Wednesday whilst appreciating the best bands, poetry, magic, dance or theatre; or Thursday and experience live music ,reggae and dancehall DJ's; or Friday and Saturday and support superb live bands and get down with Djs; or Sunday where you can nurse your weekend blues by settling down to watch alternative short films and documentaries while tucking into a Sunday roast and finish the whole week off with more great live music and live music videos.
